Tell me please... about "Abide"
Abide is stamping herself on my heart. I find she is joining hands with "Rest" who has also made space for herself in my spirit. I have been thinking about it, chewing on it, settling with it for days now. And I like it. I like it A LOT!
It has amazed me just the past week how many people are walking through some seriously trying, challenging, painful, discouraging times right now. I see it all over blogs, all over Twitter, and on facebook. Oh yeah... I see it in person around me too!
So I want to ask... I want to engage you... I want to hear from you. What do you think "Abide" means?
What does that word... that idea... stir up in your heart... your mind... your spirit... your soul?
Have you found a way to abide that is blessing you? Oh... please do share.
I took this last picture in Latvia. We had just left an orphanage. I sat in the back seat of the car... processing... hurting... hoping... and then I looked behind me. "Stop," I shouted, "I've got to get a picture of this!" The moment was right there... in the quiet... in the pain... in the hope... and in the boonies! I call this photo, "Road to hope." I thought it would make a great "Abide" photo.
I think when we abide... we are on the road of hope... because we are with Him.
Please share in the comments. I am so curious of your thoughts on abide. It will bless us all. And you never know what may come forth once you start writing!
Great post here and the one before!!! To me abiding with Christ is essentially living with him - He in me and me in Him. Obeying his commands, managing this life with an eternal perspective and always knowing His presence is with me. I think it's synonymous with knowing Him... NOT knowing about Him. And when you know Him, you seek His presence, counsel, wisdom, and peace... you seek His because you KNOW there's none better than His. Great post, I needed the reminder and reason to think about this more. Loves! KR
ReplyDeleteLove hearing from you K... it blesses me so much! "Eternal perspective" and "knowing" Him are key to abiding! Thank you!
DeleteAbide - I imagine myself on that road in the picture - on foot. During the day it is easy to stay focused and to keep fallowing where ever it leads. But imagine yourself on it after dark. You still know it is the same road. However, your imagination and the little noises you hear makes your heart beat skip, sometimes even paralyzing you with fear. To abide means to stay focused and to know that the road is still there and that it is leading you to the right place. It is to know that anything that is in that forest is probably more afraid of you than you of it.
ReplyDeleteP.S. - May I please, please have a copy of that picture? It reminds me so much of the road that leads to my dad's place. My dad used to take me on walks and it would be so quiet. You could only hear an occasional tree branch break from the weight of the snow. Then maybe a squirrel or even an elk. Truly precious memories.
Sweet friend, your comment is so true and NAILS what I have been feeling and want to write about soon. The fact they you are from Latvia and that picture touched you makes it all the more wonderful. And yes, you can so have a copy of my photo. Just let me know whether you want "Abide" on it or not as I can remove it. I can not thank you enough for sharing... blessed me so... and will bless others!
DeleteTo walk with, to be with, to share with, to know and be known, to intimately know eachother, living eachother's lives, supporting, to do all this and be comfortable with it...and to be at peace with it. Sounds like something I want in my life. This is something I already have, this is my blessing!
ReplyDeleteMade me smile Anne. So glad you have the relationship with Him that you do... it shows in the joy that is growing inside you! Hugs.
